Explore traditional methods and several of the most progressive methods of teaching English to speakers of other languages. You'll learn about several types of "communication-based" techniques and will practice-teach in small groups by utilizing all of the methods learned. Each student will complete five hours of practice teaching/observation during this course. Cynthia Fettig has been working in the ESL field for 17 years. Her teaching experience includes teaching general and business English in Japan and Spain, teaching English for Academic Purposes at Cornell University and NC State, and teaching survival English skills to immigrants and refugees in the United States. She has been a teacher trainer in various settings including the public schools and as the director of a language school in Tokyo. She holds a Master's degree in TESOL from the School for International Training.
