Sustain the leader you are and expand on your existing leadership skills in a program designed for mid-level managers and those who are managers of managers with at least four years of experience managing others. Through a combination of instructor-led training sessions, pre- and post-session assignments, team activities, interim group coaching forums, action planning, and more, you will be prepared to:

Curriculum & Course Details

Curriculum:

This program takes a fresh approach to leadership development by engaging participants well beyond the classroom. Two weeks prior to the start of the program you will complete a comprehensive assessment to set a baseline for your leadership growth and receive your first pre-session assignments. 

During the first session, participants are placed into teams that will work together on extracurricular activities for the duration of the program. With instructor-led sessions every third week, you have two weeks in between to complete a variety of pre- and post-session work and participate in team virtual activities and group coaching forums.

Course Details:

Customer Centricity
Harness the power of customer centricity and use the perspective of the customer to gain competitive advantage. This session will provide you with the ability to effectively and confidently manage customer relationships and expectations and strategic relationships.

Session Objectives:

  • Effectively manage customer relationships
  • Identify the metrics that matter most to your customers
  • Remove the barriers that hinder delivering superior customer service
  • Build strategic relationships from a global perspective
  • Problem solve with the customer in mind

Leading Change Initiatives
Accelerate change initiatives not just successfully, but sustainably. By building sustainability into the change design and implementation plan, you can better help your team adapt to changes in the workplace.

Session Objectives:

  • Apply change leadership techniques successfully and efficiently
  • Build sustainability into the change design and implementation process
  • Help people adapt to changes in their work environment without compromising their productivity
  • Communicate with impact

Developing and Executing Strategy
Develop a strategy that will take your business to the next level. This session focuses on building a business strategy and a strong vision, in addition to identifying the operating tactics that will make these come to fruition.

Session Objectives:

  • Translate a business strategy into useable operating and execution tactics
  • Identify tools and techniques to successfully manage and monitor progress
  • Articulate your vision so that others naturally align with it
  • Use strategic thinking to communicate with impact

Critical Thinking
Apply your general knowledge and years of experience to solve complex and critical issues and make well-informed decisions.

Session Objectives:

  • Define issues clearly with incomplete or ambiguous information
  • Link problems with systems in order to identify and improve underlying strategic issues
  • Analyze the available alternatives for other, more effective solutions
  • Make difficult decisions with more confidence
  • Manage risks with less stress

Next Level Leadership
Take your foundational leadership skills to the next level by modifying behaviors that are not working in order to bring your “A” game to your team one-hundred percent of the time.

Session Objectives:

  • Create an environment where employees are inspired to do their best every day
  • Focus on key factors that really drive employee performance
  • Stop avoiding tough discussions and confidently face them head-on
  • Use conflict management to foster teamwork
  • Kick-start your personal and professional development

Requirements

Eligibility

  • Computer literacy
  • Access to a computer throughout program
  • A valid email account
  • Fluency in English, including reading and writing
  • Registration complete via either phone or online
  • Tuition paid in full or loan tuition amount certified and received prior to program start

Admission is discretionary. CEG/Duke University Management Training programs require students be at least 18 years of age and meet minimum suitability standards. Students are not matriculated Duke University students and university student privileges do not apply to CEG/Duke University Management Training programs students. CEG/Duke University Management Training programs reserve the exclusive right, at their sole and absolute discretion, to withhold registration or require withdrawal from the program of any student or applicant.

Certificate requirements

After completing the certificate program, fulfilling the course requirements and passing post-course exams, participants receive a letter grade and certificate of completion jointly issued by CEG/Duke University Management Training Programs.

Policies & Procedures

Cancellation Policies

Notice of cancellation, (which occurs prior to the beginning of a program or course) and withdrawal, (which occurs after the beginning of a program or course) should be conveyed via email to the organization which processed the registration initially: Corporate Education Group (CEG) or Duke Continuing Studies (DCS). This notification email should include the first and last name used to register for the course/program, the title of the course/program, start date and the reason for cancelling or withdrawing.

Refunds, if applicable, are issued by the organization which originally processed the registration, paid only to the recipient who originally purchased the course/program and credited to the original source of payment.

For Instructor-led classroom-based or Virtual programs:
Refunds for cancellations or withdrawals will be made to REGISTRANT on a per course basis in accordance with the following refund schedule:

  • If REGISTRANT cancels more than 14 calendar days prior to the Start Date, either CEG/DCS will refund all monies paid.
  • If REGISTRANT cancels between 14 and 7 calendar days prior to the Start Date, either CEG/DCS will retain 25% of the course cost.
  • If REGISTRANT cancels less than 7 calendar days prior to the Start Date, either CEG/DCS will retain an amount equal to 50% of the course cost.
  • If REGISTRANT withdraws after their Start Date, but prior to the midpoint of the program’s scheduled hours, either CEG/DCS will retain an amount equal to 75% of the course cost.
  • If REGISTRANT withdraws at or after the midpoint of the program’s scheduled hours, either CEG/DCS will retain 100% of the course cost.

For Asynchronous (self-paced) online programs:
Refunds for cancellations or withdrawals will be made to REGISTRANT on a per program basis in accordance with the following refund schedule:

  • If REGISTRANT cancels within 3 calendar days of having received his or her login and password and has not yet logged into the program, either CEG/DCS will refund all monies paid.
  • If REGISTRANT cancels within 3 calendar days of having received his or her login and password and already has logged into the program, either CEG/DCS will retain an amount equal to 50% of the course cost.
  • If REGISTRANT cancels 4 or more calendar days after having received his or her login and password, but prior to accessing 50% of the courses in the program or 50% of the modules in a course, either CEG/DCS will retain an amount equal to 90% of the course cost.

Cancellation of a course/program by either CEG or DCS entitles the student to a full refund.

Tax Deductions

Course fees and expenses are sometimes tax deductible. Please consult an accountant concerning this matter. Non-credit programs at Duke Continuing Studies do not generate 1098-T forms, in accordance with the following IRS guideline:

Instructions for Forms 1098-E and 1098-T published by the Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, states “You do not have to file Form 1098-T or furnish a statement for: Courses for which no academic credit is offered, even if the student is otherwise enrolled in a degree program…”
