This accelerated certificate program is designed to meet the challenges faced by financial planning professionals in the brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking and related fields. The Duke University Executive Certificate in Financial Planning Program fulfills the educational component, one of five requirements of the CFP® certification, established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. Completion of this certificate program qualifies the student for application for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Exam.

A US level 4-year Bachelor’s degree is required for admission to this program.*

This program is a six course, 9-month, alternate weekend program and is taught by certified and practicing financial planners.**

  • Fundamentals and Ethical Considerations of Insurance and Employee Benefits
  • Investments Planning
  • Retirements and Employee Benefits
  • Taxation of Person, Property and Other Entities
  • Estate Tax Planning
  • Capstone Course in Financial Planning

*Consideration for exception to degree requirement may be considered depending on financial work experience. Contact  the Program Manager to discuss.

**Due to holidays or other scheduling conflicts, the program may, on occasion, require class meetings on successive weekends.
