1593 - Planning for the Long Term: Will I be Ready When the Unexpected Happens?
This course will give you the skills both to develop an aging plan and to communicate it to your family and the significant people in your life. If healthy aging is no longer an option, you will have information on managing your health and medical problems and potential psychological problems including dementia. Discussion of resources that can help you meet your goals will determine what resources you may need and how to access those resources. Topics that will be covered in the course include the following: why plan ahead, aging in community, resources and options for care, pros and cons of retirement communities, estate planning and documents, financial planning, aging friendly homes, technology to support aging, caring for someone with dementia (and caring for the caregiver), and preparing for the end of life.
