The course will expand the student's genealogical skills and knowledge beyond the basics; emphasis will be on broadening the scope of their research resources. Records at the county, state, and federal level will be discussed, including church records, newspapers, courthouse documents, immigration and naturalization records, military records and land records. The session on land will include basic platting. The last class will be a field trip to a local county courthouse where students will be able to examine examples of many of the records discussed.
