1960 - Guide To Local Jazz: Hidden Treasure, Simple Pleasures
Not all good jazz in this area happens at the larger, more popular venues so GTLJ/Spring will take you to a different venue a different evening of the week--no cover charges, often starting at a comfortable evening time. For example, the West End Wine Bars in Durham and Chapel Hill each have jazz certain days/evenings of the week. Some venues have regular performers, some book at short notice. Going to such places means intimate venues with music ranging from quiet straight-ahead jazz to the best jazz bar band in Carrboro. Plus, we'll get to talk with performers between sets. The class schedule will be ready well before the 4/4/17 registration day. For a preview email me at firstname.lastname@example.org in late March--once I make sure which venues/performers may have shifted their schedules. Yes, this is different than prior GTLJs, but it gives you a chance to pop up at new venues and hear new performers. Facilitated Discussion.
