Take a film journey through some of the most memorable films in cinema history. Tracing the film industry from the silent era to the Talkies, the course will highlight key directors and films from epics like William Wyler's "Ben Hur" and David Lean's " Lawrence of Arabia" to the great musicals, "My Fair Lady," "South Pacific," and "The Sound of Music" to Robert Mulligan's "To Kill a Mockingbird," Sydney Pollack's "Out of Africa," Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest," and Frank Capra's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," just to name a few. Landmark films, many Oscar winners, and the directors behind these classics will be highlighted in the course. Film clips from the movies, interviews on tape with some of the directors, and discussions on these award-winning films will be the focus of the class.
