Most improv shows start with a suggestion from the audience and a show made up on the spot. Semi-scripted improv differs from that approach. The characters and story outlines are created before the show, rehearsed and then put into final form. There is still no script and the dialogue is entirely made up on the spot. In the first session we will hear pitches for show ideas. In the subsequent classes we will write, design and rehearse the scenes in the show. Each class will feature a writer's table where we will create the characters and story outlines and then spend time working out the scenes in a rehearsal setting. This course is designed for writers and/or improvisers. No improv experience is necessary. There will be an optional intensive improv skills workshop before the class starts for those with no previous or rusty improv skills. Hands-On Art. Writing.
