Expressions! Performing Arts Camp
Staff
The instructional staff is comprised of professional educators, published writers, and talented artists. Expressions! has two Academic Directors, Karen Wade and Tori Summers, who coordinate the academic life and advises instructional staff.
Karen Wade, a graduate of UNC-Greensboro, has taught in the public schools and private summer camps for twenty-nine years. Having taught a variety of courses from technical theatre and beginning drama to intermediate and advanced acting, as well as, having directed over 75 plays and musicals, Karen is an actor's director.
Tori Summers has been the Director of Theatre at St. David’s School in Raleigh for the past four years and has directed ten plays there, including Cinderella, The Sound of Music, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and Arsenic and Old Lace. Tori has been involved in musical theater as either an actress or director for the past eighteen years. She earned at B.A. in Theatre at Meredith College and is a member of the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Fraternity. Tori is thrilled to be working with young campers this summer as they discover and cultivate their dramatic talents!
The residential staff members are mature, talented, and enthusiastic graduate and undergraduate students, who supervise campers in the residential hall and at other out of class times, such as meals, free times, and special events. The residential counselors also plan and lead a variety of social and recreational activities. A professional educator directly supervises the residential staff and their activities.
