Course Description

Create wonderful garden art through the exploration of the art of mosaics during this six-week course. This hands-on course will begin with a brief history of mosaic art. It will explore ancient through modern mosaic installations from around the world. Students will learn about mosaic design, using shape, color, and texture. In weeks two through six, students will work with a range of mosaic materials that can be used indoors and outdoors, including glass tiles, gems, multishape ceramic tiles, beads, and found objects. The best adhesives for indoor and outdoor use will also be discussed. Students will create and complete two 3D mosaic garden pieces appropriate for outdoors: a 3D outdoor flower with a garden stake and an 8.5-inch-tall birdhouse. | Active participation.

Please note: This course is open to all levels from beginner to advanced. Students will need a table or space to work where they can also view their computer device.

All necessary tools, forms, materials, adhesives, grout will be provided in class supply kits.

1- Metal garden flower with stake form

1- 8.5" tall birdhouse form

1- DAP outdoor waterproof/moldproof silicone adhesive. (Appropriate for indoor use.)

1- Mosaic glass tiles, gems, glass beads, ceramic tiles in multiple shapes, charms and found objects.

1- Grout

1- Natural Sponge

1- Grout removal tool

Students will purchase a class supply kit from the instructor at a cost of $48 for curbside pickup (or shipped at additional cost). All necessary materials will be provided in the class supply kits available through curbside pickup. For those who are not local, there will be a shipping charge, which may exceed $25.00. Payment will be collected at the time of pickup or can be made through PayPal. Students will be advised of these details once enrolled.
