Course Description

Do you have a digital camera? Do you want to learn and practice the ins and outs of digital photography? This course, a combination of lecture and digital photo-taking, will teach what you really need to know to use your camera’s controls. Here are some of the many things you will learn in class and in practice sessions "in the field."

  • How a digital camera works
  • Camera controls and creativity
  • Controlling sharpness
  • Controlling exposure
  • Capturing light and color
  • Using automatic flash

This course will also include an overview of basic photo-editing software and ways to organize your photos. One some days after the session in the lab, the class will travel to a local photo-shoot location.

Prerequisites

Requirements: Participants must own a digital camera with a connection for a PC, have transportation to local field photo-shoot locations, and be able to do some light walking.
