Course Description

In this course, the new or experienced family historian will learn genealogical research skills and methods to gain or improve their working knowledge of the genealogical research process and the most frequently used American records from the 19th and 20th century. Use of the Internet is NOT the focus of this course, although it will be discussed, as it pertains to each area. There will be one or two field trips for hands-on research experience; one field trip will be to the Family History Center in Chapel Hill. To get the most out of this course, students will be asked to do some homework related to their family history. Lecture (plus Questions) Field Trip(s)
