2403 - Nuclear Power, An Introduction, Analysis and Promise for the Future
This course will provide an introduction to the physics and technology utilized to produce electricity with nuclear energy and will review the history of nuclear power facilities in the US and worldwide. The course will include an analysis of the accidents and what we have learned from them, as well as the safety factors designed into nuclear reactors and the regulations administered by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The issue of environmental safety and the processing and storage of spent nuclear fuel will be addressed in detail and how nuclear energy might serve us in the future.
