New discoveries from the frontiers of science and medicine regularly divulge more of nature’s complex blueprint of life, providing us with insights and tools for maximizing our health and well-being. The rapid pace of the news cycle gives us glimpses of these new developments but obscures details needed to apply them effectively in our own lives. The goal is to bridge that gap by bringing experts to our podium from the leading edge of medical research, development, and delivery. This course will cover topics ranging from basic cell biology all the way up through the integration of the body’s functions via the nervous system, the causes and treatments of diseases, and the organization of health care. As the lineup of speakers for the coming term falls into place, the speakers and their topics will be listed on the course website, olliatdukefrontiersinmedicine.weebly.com. | Lecture + Q&A.
PLEASE NOTE: This class is for 10 sessions beginning 9/14-11/23. There is NO CLASS on 9/28.
