0683 - Criminal Law - Paralegal Specialist Certificate
Course Description
This course trains students in the many aspects of criminal law including arrest, search and seizure, post arrest issues, grand jury considerations, evidentiary matters, prosecution, interrogations and confessions, arraignment, discovery in a criminal case, crimes against the person, crimes against property, rights associated with the criminal trial process, defenses, sentencing and appeal.
This certificate is comprised of 3 required classes and one elective.

Graduates of the Duke Paralegal Certificate Program and Duke Paralegal Online Certificate Program are eligible to receive a $800 discount on each specialist certificate course. To take advantage of this discount, please register by calling the Duke Continuing Studies Registration Office at 1-919-684-6259.
Tuition must be paid in full before a student can start the program. Books are purchased separately and range between $45 and $160 per book. When registration is complete, the student will receive an email containing a username and password to the program's website, information on purchasing textbooks, and instructor and support contact information.
Prerequisites
A degree or certificate in paralegal studies is required OR a bachelor's or associate's degree in any field AND a minimum of three years work experience as a paralegal under the direct supervision of an attorney.
