Course DescriptionThe employer-employee relationship is often the subject of conflict related to the rights of the employer and the employee. This course of study covers the establishment of the employment relationship, employee benefits, compensation regulations, job performance evaluation, terminating the employment relationship, discrimination, the Americans with Disabilities Act, age discrimination, race discrimination, sex discrimination, the Family and Medical Leave Act, immigration, privacy issues, and safety regulations.

NotesGraduates of the Duke Paralegal Certificate Program and Duke Paralegal Online Certificate Program are eligible to receive a $800 discount on each specialist certificate course. PrerequisitesA degree or certificate in paralegal studies is required OR a bachelor's or associate's degree in any field AND a minimum of three years work experience as a paralegal under the direct supervision of an attorney.
