2668 - Religious History and Heritage of North Carolina
This is a survey course of the religious history and heritage of various groups that have existed and continue to exist in North Carolina. We will look at the beliefs of each religious group as well as their historic presence in the Old North State. Our focus will be placed on the Quaker, the Moravian, and the Waldensian traditions. Likewise, we will study those denominations that were born of The Great Awakening- the Methodists and the Baptists. Other religious traditions covered in this course are African-Methodist Episcopal and African-Methodist Episcopal Zion, Anglican/Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Catholic, Judaism, and Islam.
