2697 - Creative Prose: Writing, Editing and Publishing Workshop
Do you have stories from your life or the history of your family you want to share? Do you use your imagination to create stories? This course will cover all aspects of prose writing from short stories, novels, memoirs, personal essays to any other type of creative prose. In addition, the class will include readings and discussions focusing on key aspects of the writing craft including how to transform your raw material, developing your own voice, writing scenes and dialogue, developing characters, establishing a narrative point of view and structuring longer works. A series of exercises will give you a chance to practice these skills. We will examine the editing process and also look at different methods of publishing your writing. Class members will have their writing critiqued by the class. The class is open to all levels of writers from beginners to published writers.
