2718 - Navigating the Internet: Safe Sailing in the Digital Ocean
Learn practical tips and techniques to utilize your web browser to find information on the internet as well as use online applications and services. This hands-on course will show you how to: research various topics from trustworthy sources, use online portals for medical and financial services, shop online effectively, borrow digital media from a public library, locate credible DIY (Do It Yourself) videos, navigate social media, and subscribe to podcasts and blogs. Other topics may be added based on participant interest. With input from students, an online document will be created to share recommended web resources, applications and tips. Participants should bring their own device, either a tablet or a Mac or Windows laptop, to use during class.
