Course Description

Philosophy of religion involves the explication and critical examination of basic religious beliefs and concepts, examining the reasons that have been given for and against them with a view to determining whether there is any rational justification for holding them to be true or false. In this class we will examine the traditional arguments about the existence of God, religious and mystical experience, the relationship between faith and reason, the problem of evil, miracles and the modern worldview, life after death, predestination, divine foreknowledge and human freedom, and the issues raised by the existence of many religions.
