Course Description

Do you have a family story you would like to share with the children in your life? Do you want to write a children's book but aren't sure where to start? Not sure if your story is a picture book, a chapter book, a middle grade book, or a young adult novel? This class will discuss the differences between the various types of children's books and delve into plot, character, and setting as they relate to young readers. Each participant will have the opportunity to share story ideas and present (at least) two pieces of writing, which we will discuss in a workshop format. This class is open to writers at any level who are interested in writing for a young audience, whether preschoolers, elementary schoolers, middle graders, or young adults.  Lecture (plus Questions) Facilitated Discussion Active Participation Writing
