Course Description

Geriatric care managers often see what happens when someone has not planned for a change in health status or other challenges that sometimes occur as we get older. This course will help you develop an understanding of the resources and options that are available when the need arises. Discussions will cover community resources, intentional aging, financial planning, estate planning and documents needed, aging in place/community, CCRCs, care communities, a dementia overview, technologies to support aging, making your home aging friendly, end-of-life care options, and advanced funeral planning. By gaining a basic understanding of aging and support options, you will be able to better manage changes and avert what could be a major crisis. Course content will be presented by the instructor and local experts. It is better to prepare for the unexpected as many already know that the unexpected often happens. | Lecture (plus questions); Facilitated discussion; Viewing videos
