About EngageU
Alongside university partners, the EngageU team supports summer pre-college and middle school programming through academic development and residential life services. We are seeking engaging individuals with strong leadership skills, past residential life and/or experience with youth to support middle and high school students during their summer experience. EngageU is powered by the National Student Leadership Conference.
The Role
The Residential Life Coordinator (RC) is responsible for developing, planning, and executing the residential and social activities of the Duke Pre-College program. RCs plan and prepare the program throughout the spring and will then run the residential components on-site during the summer. The RC is further responsible for hiring, training, and mentoring a team of Resident Assistants.
Winter/Spring Responsibilities: January 2025 - May 2025
- Conduct interviews and hire a staff of Resident Assistants
- Develop and prepare lesson plans and materials for summer workshops and activities; plan summer social activities
- Work with the Residential Director to create the program schedule
Summer Responsibilities: June 2025 - July 2025
- Plan and execute the training of hired program staff
- Supervise and manage all program staff members
- Manage program supplies and program logistics
- Serve as a member of the site administrative staff, supporting all students on campus as needed
Qualifications
EngageU has a primary focus on youth development. Applicants should have experience mentoring and chaperoning youth. Background and interest in leadership, organization, and logistics coordination is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing/able to transport students. Ideal candidates are creative, independent, self-starters, and have management experience.
Compensation
Summer 2025 will run June 12 - July 27. RCs will be paid $1300 per week, for a summer total of $6500. EngageU/Duke pays for room & board, meals during sessions (most of which are eaten in the dining hall on campus), and transportation to and from the program.
